What's new? This website is new!
After a far too long period of not updating the old pages, we thought some fresh paint couldn't hurt. Hope you enjoy it.
Comments appreciated.

The Bremen Clarinet Quartet toured for the first time in North Carolina. A busy schedule, for the most part, workshops, university concerts, residencies... and a bit of a vacation in Oriental.

It's been a pretty busy week for Sanne Möricke: she started teaching workshops at Fürth's prestigeous Klezmerfestival, where she also performed with her trio, Sukke. After that she travelled to Vienna, to meet Lorin Sklamberg, Otto Lechner, Frank London and Samo Alexander for a Klezmer Accordion Party at the 8th International Accordion Festival. On her way back, she met Konsonans Retro, again in Fürth.

Already preparing for the summer... as the highlight of our musical year, Khupe has again been invited to the amazing Jewish festival in Cracow. Right after the festival, Christian Dawid will be joining the staff of Klezmer Paris. Sanne Möricke will be teaching at the instrumental workshops of the Yiddish Summer Weimar, and Khupe will be joining forces again shortly after, for another highlight, the dance workshops in Weimar.

After Klezkamp, Josh Horowitz, Cookie Segelstein and Christian Dawid flew to the Bay Area to meet the three Hungarian members of Budowitz. Budowitz played in San Francisco for KlezCalifornia, run some workshops and performances in Albuquerque and celebrated the new live CD, recorded in Zurich and Geneva.
At the very, very last, Dawid returned to Manhattan to enter the studio with clarinet colleague Michael Winograd (whose instrument is believed to fight against the evil). Probably the first recordings of fully improvised (but not totally pointless) klezmer clarinet duets to be possibly released one day!

Back from New York - Khupe were teaching at Klezkamp in the Catskills, seeing many friends (see left our favorite accordion duo), performing, jamming at sessions. Since there is no Yiddishland, the festivals serve as an important platform for people to meet, exchange ideas, tunes and knowledge and develop a contemporary Yiddish culture. Not to mention the fun.
